Happy 2024! Our foundation was busy during the Thanksgiving & Christmas Holiday. Thanks to our sponsors at RW Towne Foundation & Faith In Action Church (Norfolk) we distributed over a 125 Thanksgiving food baskets to families in need for the Thanksgiving holiday. Christmas brought much joy to children & families who were in need for Christmas. We were honored by the kindness and generosity of Faith In Action Church who donated toys, hats, mittens and bicycles. Queen Vashti #009/Eastern Star Chapter adopted 24 of our outreach families for Christmas. Through our continued partnership with the Greater Hampton Roads Diaper Bank and a donation from Queen Vashti #009/Eastern Star Chapter we have helped hundreds of moms and babies! We are blessed to have such wonderful support and we are thankful. May the new year bring much blessings and prosperity to all.

Message from the Board of Directors of Friends of the Elderly t/a FOTE Outreach & Community Services Program:
Over the past couple of days within Facebook & Facebook Groups, a post concerning the soliciting practices of Grady Morton have been circulating. We are appalled with his actions and the manner which he has been soliciting donations on behalf of the foundation. We have read many comments on Facebook (when posts are made public) and the comments on our post from July 2021. This isn’t the reputation we want for FOTE Outreach & Community Services Program, which was founded in 1991 by Mrs. Cleo Rush. She built a community foundation to help those families and individuals in need with supportive programs, emergency food assistance, prescription assistance and referral services. Reports of Mr. Morton’s behavior are deeply upsetting to Mrs. Rush and she has called for the removal of Mr. Morton from soliciting out in the general public, he will no longer be soliciting donations from the individuals in the general public. Mr. Morton will also continue to deliver and pick up donations, assist clients with transportation to appointments, deliver holiday food baskets and toys during our holiday campaigns. Statement from Mrs. Rush, Founder & Administrator: I want to rebuild the relationship with the general public so that we may continue to help assist those families and individuals in need. There are many families and individuals who are facing hunger insecurity and are in need of assistance. The foundation has helped over 100 families during the 2021 Thanksgiving holiday with food baskets, over 125 children with toys for the 2021 Christmas holiday and has helped issued over 4,000 diapers to children in need. Mr. Morton was an integral part of these programs offered by FOTE Outreach. However, it does not negate or excuse the behavior of Mr. Morton. It has always been my intention to have the safety and well-being of the potential donors when approached in a general public setting. Mr. Morton has been instructed to conduct himself in humble manner when seeking donations and given the current situation and by his actions is why I have decided to remove him from soliciting in a general public setting. No one deserved to be treated in such an unprofessional manner, especially when trying to meet the needs of our fellow neighbors who are in need. I am truly sorry for the actions caused by Mr. Morton. I have been helping people for over 25 years and helping others is my calling. Please be patient and changes will be made. Organized functions such as concerts, family-oriented activities and social fundraisers which will be done to connect with the public more. We are in need of volunteers. I need 6-8 people who are experienced in coordinating large fundraisers. We will be looking for them, on a volunteer basis. It is my sincere hope that we can move forward so that our foundation can continue to meet the needs of our community. We have diapers....free diapers! The sizes we have available are newborn, sizes 1-3, size 6, 3T/4T and 4T/5T Pull Ups. Our diaper pantry is open Tues-Friday from 11-3pm.
